Read all the post re this but they are old and I could not reply to them.

So, mine, given to be by my grooms some 40 years ago, has a broken internal "rib" on the back of the selector. Unclear if a new selector comes in kit. Seems they may or might and are non chromed. Seems I need a 43447 kit per my study. $14 kit on eBay. Heck, you can buy a used one but....

I think the lesson learned, service your ratchet before it needs it so things like this don't break. Seems a bit gummy and likely an energetic thumb on the selector snapped it. Happily my Son is wrenching too, hard to do on modern cars. I will cut him some slack. Just wanted to hear from the experts how to best get her on the road again.

As humor, he is using his grandfathers 1/2 socket which is a Long C, no number, just a big S with D and F inside the S. Short handle for 1/2" for doing Prius control arms.

Sometimes selectors can be home repaired. Here's a 1/2" Craftsman rat with a broken selector knob that I fashioned a repair on it for a forum member to get it useable. Not the same as your failure but just an FYI so maybe can get the creative juices flowing so you can fix yours.

Epoxy curing. It is however the small pot metal tab that goes into the metal pawl. I guess I could some screw with a form factor like a thumb screw...tap and die and file to suit. Epoxy until that dies. May be 3 uses, maybe 300.

To get the correct piece, you might have to buy a similar rusted ratchet at low cost and strip it for parts.
