Cnd Tire has Mastercraft 1/2" dr deep chrome socket sets on sale at 50% off this week, so I picked up a metric and an SAE set....useful to leave in tractor/combine/truck tool boxes. I take them out off the packaging and decide to drop some on my hansen type trays to see what it would look like with nice new shiny sockets, but the 9/16 doesn't fit on the 9/16" peg all the way where my old Elora 9/16" socket fitted. Closer inspection of the Mastercraft 9/16" socket reveals it is actually a 1/2" socket stamped 9/16", so on the SAE rail I have two 1/2" deep sockets, one stamped 1/2" and the other stamped 9/16".....lol.

It happens. I had some gearwrench sockets before and the 10mm stamped socket was actually a 9mm. Brought it back for an exchange and all was good.

I hate CT. Bought one of the Stanley sets they have on for cheap once in a while and it is actually pretty darn good. It is a behind the seat of the truck set but I have used it a couple of times with the camper etc and decently impressed.

just take it back - explain to them what has happened and I'm sure you'd at get an exchange. I've had literally no problem dealing with Mastercraft tools and their warranty. I almost prefer dealing with them over the truck guys...9/10 you get some little teenager who doesn't know a socket wrench from a tire iron - too damn busy looking at their cell phones to really care - they'd warranty anything even the most abused hand tools one could hand them.
hope you get the right fix...

i never had any problems with warranty in Canadian Tire...actually, i have returned worn out and dirty Mechanix Gloves once for 6 times in a row ( span of 2 years ) because it said lifetime warranty on the gloves...and each time, they would give me new ones..

they have superb warranty and superb sales on tools, so quality is not even an issue..

You won't have anny problems with crappy tire tool warranty. As long as it is theirs their stanley and other tools they are getting you have to send it to whoever made it.
