Seen a brand if led flashlights at lowes called "coast" Does anyone have one of these. They have a couple different styles going all the way up to around 50 bux

I could use a nice new small flashlight for in my garage. I'm not spending 100+ dollars on a flashlight off the snap on truck. That to me is crazy for a flashlight.

I've seen a couple of these things around - think they're just an average 'Made in China' LED light!

If you don't fancy spending big money, try a Maglite LED!

The problem I find with all these 'Made in China' lights, is that irrespective of the brand name applied to them, or the light output, or any other feature, the build quality of the insides is pretty poor!

Coast is an excellent brand of flashlight. I carry one on my belt every day for the last nine years. I've been through countless batteries, but still the original light. It has been dropped in coolant tanks, hydraulic oil tanks, and on rare occasions taken a 15 foot fall to concrete and has never failed to function. As you may be able to tell, I recommend coast flashlights to anyone and everyone. Get one and use it!

My Matco guy carries Coast lights. I got their new rechargeable pen light. Very nice, a lot of light for its size. The rest of the lights appear to be very nice as well.

Coast is a sub brand of LED Lenser. They were bought by Leatherman 2 years ago. It's a good company. I personally own several LED Lenser flashlights, and I love em
All.

I got one as a Christmas present and love it. It's the G45 and is really bright and good light but yet small. I also have a G20 pen light that is really nice for about 10 bucks.

I have several coast lights, lowes and HD always has them for cheap after Christmas. For home use they are great, but for work I think ive given up on them. Ive bought several of the $40-50 lights and after a year they stop working.

I have a couple of the V2 models. They are similar to the harbor freight free ones in shape but good quality. They are nice and bright and cheap.

Cripe distributing has a bunch of the coast models on their ebay page for cheap.

I know you don't want to spend snap on money but the 3 AAA battery blue point pen light is amazing. It's around $40 bucks and worth every cent.

As not only a tool-aholic but also a flashlight enthusiast, I have my fair share of flashlights. The only time you want to spend $100 or more on a flashlight is when you want a good rechargeable that will take a beating. When I was in law enforcement, we had streamlights cause they were used and used HARD...but living on the charger in the unit basically killed the batteries after a while cause they are only good for say 1,000 charge cycles, and at $50 a battery it gets pricey after a while. If all you want is a general flashlight, then by all means get something with alkaline batteries like the coast. They also sell them at wal-mart, but I think lowes is a tad cheaper if I remember correctly. The only thing I have found with cheap led flashlights is that they tend to flicker or get dimmer as they warm up with use.

I have 3.

I really like them.

One that take 1 AAA that I keep in my laptop bag. Was very useful during big power outage in Philly a few weeks ago when I was at a hotel !

2 that take 2 AA that I keep in each vehicle.

I have a lot of lights and stick to foursevens and fenix. They're big in the tactical world, so they're bright, can take a beating, pretty much waterproof, and most are Multi-mode. All the coast/led lenser lights are atleast rocking Cree LEDs for the most part which is good, but I prefer something with a better build quality. Foursevens or fenix lights are 40-60 for a lot of the lights, with some over 100 for really fancy ones.

They come in all sizes, battery options, colors, etc. I highly recommend those two light brands.

I have a couple small coast lights.....I use the pen light all day everyday......been the best I have used ever. I wont spend 50.00 bucks for a pen light though. I paid 15 for the coast. The old standby was the stteamlight pen light. I would get a couple month out of those. I am always dropping and bashing them. The coast has been very durable. Not the best beam I have used......but holds up very well for automotive pocket use.

I have a couple of coast knives...they're meh. Wouldn't buy one of their flashlights because I think it's all rebranded stuff and the price seems a bit steeper than it should be.

I just purchased this and have used it a few times camping. Its decently bright and seems to be good quality (especially at $10). I got it for a small light to keep in my pocket. It does a good job of that. If your getting one of these smaller LED's I reccomend getting one that focuses. That is my favorite feature for these small led flashlights. Overall i like it and would reccomend it(cant comment on durability as i havent had it for long enough). It does seem a little underpowered but again for $10 its a good light I previously had this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006X2YTQ0/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Which I liked the design and was brighter than the coast. However the button went bad on it. I replaced it with onther one from a different flashlight but it just never worked like it should have afterwards.

My favorite flashlight though is :

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000LF1KKS/?tag=atomicindus08-20

These things are awesome. I keep one on my firefighting gear and one in my truck. The one I keep in my truck I use some LSD rechargeable AA's. Its not a very useful flashlight to carry everywhere with you but when your outside and want lots of light that throws well this is the way to go.

I have a couple and I don't think they're the cheap quality that breaks easy. I think they're good quality. I have no regrets with mine.

Coast lights and alkaline batteries are fine for the kids or if you always loose flashlights. If you consider a flashlight as a tool the same way you do your wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers, then invest in rechargeable lithium batteries, a charger for them and a flashlight that uses them such as a Fenix, Nitecore or Streamlight. You will be completely amazed and will never again use cheap lights with alkaline batteries.

The 18650 battery and a flashlight for it is the right answer. Do 5 minutes of research; you'll be glad you did.

What is cool about Coast is they have a lifetime warranty (or at least used to). I have one of the little LED lights with the flex neck on it, and I've had it replaced once when it quit.

Fenix is gonna be a night and day difference from coast or maglight or even streamlight for that matter. I carry a flashlight 24/7/365 and after 4 years and 2 streamlights @ $50 each i was glad to see how much better the quality was for $40 with my fenix which is brighter and waay more efficient led so battery life went from a week to 2-3 weeks on regular alkaline aa
