I had my garage floor poured about 5 years ago, and the contractor went around after with a pump spray bottle and coated the concrete with some sort of sealant. Most of it has worn off, but there is still a dull to moderate sheen in some areas.

I'd like to epoxy coat the garage floor, but want to know what to do about the sealant. Do I have to somehow remove it with a light sanding first?

Thanks.

Does the coatings removal tool remove any oils that have settled into the concrete, or is a degreaser recommended?

Teddy:
If the oils/stains are not too deep the grinding will take care of it.
If you are still not sure, cast a small cup of water on the stain, if it beads up then you have some more work to do.

We carry a special Oil Barrier product for oily areas if you can't get the residual out.
