Coating for Fabrication/Shop Floors

Hey Guys,

Working on getting my new garage ready to rock before getting everything moved in. Originally I was thinking Epoxy coating but from what I have read it isn`t exactly the toughest coating. Not being able to stand up to sparks, welding slag, oils, fluids, etc.

Moving on from that it seems the main solution is to use just a sealer to just protect the concrete. But that doesn`t seem to add any color almost acting like a clear coat.

Are there sealers that can have color added in (was originally thinking tan or beige but that idea may have to go)?

Garage is 30x22 for reference.

There are two categories of sealers; Topical film forming sealers (coatings) and penetrating sealers.

You are correct that coatings can get burned from welding, grinding, and etc. However, the proper coatings stands up very well to chemicals, oils, fluids, and etc. You can choose to have coatings and coating systems colored or clear.

Penetrating sealers soak into the concrete and form a barrier at the subsurface. They cannot be colored like coatings can. Penetrating sealers do not change the look of bare concrete.

The penetrating sealers we sell, LS-4500 and 8510 (combined) do not alter the color. You could use a Dye but that still leaves you with the issue of sealing the floor.

If you want a color you can use a stain on the floor and then coat with our SPGX 1-part polyruea. Super fluid resistant and very easy to touch up if you get a slight burn from welding slag (sparks are no problem).

That seems like a possible solution. I will do some looking around. Thank you for the solutions from all!
