I have a small compressor that has a 33 gallon vertical tank. It's about 2 years old and every time I drain it, the water has an orange tint to it. I guess it's just a matter of time that the rust eats a hole in the tank.
I'm thinking about coating the inside of the tank with one of the coatings used for gas tanks. Maybe not the whole thing but at least the bottom few inches. I've used Kreem and RedCoat on motorcycle tanks and I think POR-15 also has a product for gas tanks.
I can't thiink of any reason not to do it but does anyone know of something I may be missing? Do the big, high dollar compressors have coated tanks?
