Coating over sealed floor

My ultimate goal is to lighten up the color of my garage floor either with a stain or epoxy coating. I currently have what I believe to be a penetrating sealer installed on the existing floor because There is no visible film and there is an area under the garage door that is not coated. Water beads up but soaks in after a couple minutes. Is there a product that can be applied over the existing sealer or do I need to grind the surface and then coat it?

Agree with Shea, definitely grind as sneakers are repellants.
