I'm planning on coating a 5 year old garage floor. I'm going to grind or shotblast the whole thing to clean it up for maximum adhesion. I've heard mixed reviews about all epoxy coatings.
My neighbor is a builder that does $1m+ homes. He said he has a floor guy that just does some sort of urethane paint, putting it on thick after shotblasting the floor. The homes he did 20 years ago still have perfect floors in the garage.
Here's the thing, it's inconvenient for me to do the whole garage at once. I cannot empty my garage and leave $50k worth of tools outside overnight, and some of the equipment is just too large to cart into the house. My plan is to move everything to one side of the garage, do half of it, and when it dries, move it all over to the finished part and do the other half. Using a 2-part paint would be fairly inconvenient in this scenario, as I don't really want to have to dump part of it if I mix too much.
Does anyone have thoughts on a good brand of coating that I wouldn't have to mix, and that goes on thick? Looking for something high gloss, and I'm NOT going to do chips because I hate it when I drop a small part and have to spend forever looking for it among the chips.
I'm also considering doing *bright* yellow to maximize light, and have good contrast for things I drop. Any thoughts on that? I can't seem to find any pics of garages with bright yellow floors.
I have about 900 sq. ft. to do.
