Coats 20-20 question

I own one of these useful machines, but unlike my buddy Tony who has a 40-50, mine has no means to fill a tire. It is sometimes difficult to get an air nozzle on the valve while holding the tire on the bead. What I want to do is add an air valve foot pedal, but the ones I see are very spendy. I would like to make one, but am unsure exactly how to go about it. Any ideas?

new valve stems do not seem to allow the clip on chucks to function with out the core in........one of these picked up used would be the most economical and could be retrofitted to act as a supplementary air resvoir............retrofitting an underbead inflator and valve would probably be as much as what you spent on the machine..........didn't think 20/20's even came without this feature...........

been too long ago that i had my 20-20 don't remember if it had an airline or not. also have run into alot of valve stems the air chuck won't grip in which case i angle the tire/wheel against the wall back side out, kick it in the center of the wheel to get the tire set, spin it around and gently push the center of the wheel in against the tire and inflate with the core out using just the airline coupler.

trs ago, I used to use a 10/10, and we had a 6" hose with a fitting on one eng that would screw omto the valvestem, and a fitting on the other end that would connect to an air hose. Would give it full pressure while gently lifting up on the tire from the outer edges, worked great. In fact, I thought thats the only way to do it. You mean to tell me some mach. fill the tires too?

just get a lock on air chuck and leave the valve core out until the tire seats on the rim.

What he said. I couldn't get a stiff old tire to go using the ratchet strap. Finally got my lock on air chuck out of the package and used it. Like 20 seconds and it caught and this was using a 2 hp compressor with an eleven gallon tank.

Yea, core gets left out, also, for tires that wanna be a *****, where the bottom unseats when you're lifting up to seat the top, we had these fat rubber donuts we slipped between the top of rim and top of tire bead to fill the gap. Fill with air till the bottom seats, then remopve the donut and repeat filling till the top seats

I appreciate this, but what I'm trying to ask is this; What I want to do is add an air valve foot pedal so that once the air chuck is clamped on to the stem, I can lift the tire with my 2 free hands, while stepping on a pedal to inflate. I want to build this pedal, what type of valve/switch do I need to accomplish this?

You don't need a ft pedal, just hookup you're air full pressure while it's blowing lift up on tire when the beads pop, as I remember you'll here two fairly loud pops, one for the lower bead, one for the upper bead, you'll then disconnect he air chuck, you're tire is now seared, just fill to proper level , then you're done
