Hi, does anyone have a link to an instruction manual or video for the Coats 4040 machine? Or any coats center post would probably do the trick.

I had one years ago and wish I had never sold it. I just picked this one up on the weekend for $200 and so am now just going through it to see what it needs.

This one came with a few accessories that I'm not too sure what they are for and when they would be best utilized?
How does the shim get used for the lower bead breaker shoe? I always just stuck a pry bar in under the shoe to position it for different sized rims.
Also, the lever/knob on the right hand side that pulls up and slides forward and back. It isn't connected to anything down inside the machine,, it doesn't appear to do anything? If I remember it is to adjust the lower shoe for different sized rims, no? I don't see anything on the shoe where this knob assembly would have been connected to it.

Anyway,, I have the parts schematic,, but still not quite able to see what the adjustment knob is supposed to do. It is a sleeved rod with a spring inside the female rod, going down to a larger bracket,,, and that bracket just moves back and forth but not doing anything.

thanks

They guy is selling it for $1000 CAD. Is it worth in 2026 where you cannot do fancy aluminum wheels that's becoming the standard for new vehicles?

Sorry I was referring to the manual.

Nope, not worth that much. Maybe $200-$600 or so tops. There's one here for $350.

Yeah, I lost my Job since last year and want to start tire changing setup 1st in Garage than shop; Little bit hesitant to buy Chinese tire changer and balancing machines like Eternal, Rock solid etc for $2500. I like Coats, may be hunter but don't know snap on tire changing machines. One guy is selling Snap 0n tire changer (Model unknown) and Coats Balancer 875 for $5500 Cad. I'm confused where to start or which one to buy.

Thanks

That's too much. Watch ads for a while, I don't think I'd want to pay more then say $1,00-$1500 each for them used. Although I'm guessing thst tire machine would be more since it's newer with those extra arms and being snap on.

My balancer is the same as that one.
