Coats superstar tire changer

Hi all,
Looking to purchase a tire changer for my garage. Would like to get a coats superstar (I believe it is called the 20/20 model) with the bead blaster feature.

Opinions on it?

What to look out for damage wise?

Is that the only coats model,with the bead blast feature?

Any advice on where to buy one online?

I used one, or at least an extremely similar one before. It worked pretty good, and was built like a tank. The only issue we had, is that it would struggle to break the bead on certain alloy wheels. The bead breaker arm would just slip and slide off.

been using a coats 2020 for close to 30 years, in the shop at least a tire or two a week,

sometimes one has to get creative on the top debeader, and use a bar to pull it in a bit to push the tie off the rim, and

if you have aluminum rims there not best for the job, (they can/will scratch the rim at times),

as far as the machine goes, I have not had problems with the machine, (besides a very small air leak some where, most likely fixable, just never looked for it) was there when I got and and has not got worst.

Like any machine there are quirks and things, and some rims are a PIA, and some tires are too, but some are so easy, have used on 13" to 16.5" truck rims,

The back (under side) side of the wheel the only method I ever found when I owed a tire shop was to move the wheel from one hole to the next on the wheel and retry breaking the bead. The top side was just keep retrying it and eventually it will break the bead loose. One note of caution the cheap replacement Chinese steel wheels do bend easily. I have seen a Coats 20/20 mangle those cheap POS.

Can someone please provide the difference between the coats 4040, 4040a and 4040sa machines?

I've looked online to no avail,

I'm looking into buying one ,just want to get the latest and best version of that series machine.

I have a 20 20 coats and it's good machine but is limited in what it can do on today's vehicles and I'd not recommend running aluminum rims threw it until you get some practice. All on all its a great machine to have on the farm does anything 16.5 and under I'm on the look out for a newer style coats machine though I won't get rid of the old girl

Worked on 1010 2020 and 4040 a lot . Tried a 3030 a few times . The 2020 my fave . More than enough power for most wheels . Also for doing mags you need a plate to offset the lower bead breaker. There were also a finger type plate assembly that distributed equal force on the bolt holes instead of the Center of the wheel to avoid breakage . Be aware you need a good aircsupply to benefit from these machines.
