Coats tire machine help

I have a coats 40 40 The changer seems to not want to spin the entire distance. I will help it with a pipe wrench to complete the rotation. The air pressure that it runs on is 125 psi. It is supplied with a 1/2 air hose with no restriction.

Pressure to a coats 40-40 is 150PSI MINIMUM! Also verify there is enough oil in the hydraulic cylinder that governs control speed of the center shaft.

FIL had one that was doing similar things as yours......and was really jerky when turning the tire tool. It was low on oil.

I know this is super old thread, but do you know what type of hydraulic oil? All the manuals I find seem to spec out some Coats brand snake oil. Prefer not to pay $90/qt if it's the same stuff I put in my bobcat from 5 gallon drums.

Honestly, you can't go wrong. All it's doing is taking up space in the form of a liquid. It has no real service requirements of any kind. I don't know much about the piston seals, but they must be compatible with hydrocarbons.

Thanks. I tracked down a few other obscure Coats documents and they seem to spec brands that are between iso 24->46 which is all pretty commonly available. So I guess in it goes.

I've probably changed 50+ tires with it since I bought it and it's pretty bullet proof. I was planning to pull it apart and grease all the pins since it rode out a couple floods at my old house. Still works though!
