I have a coats machine i bought 2 years ago and havent been able to run it much due to lack of 220v for a decent compressor which I now have.

I did clean and repair some small leaks at the various hoses and have a new pump i probably need to install as old ones vanes were worn (they looked like some kind of plastic) -

ANyway- it seems theres some kind of pressur box inside - where the main air goes in? it leaks- this thig was so oily and dirty ive done a few cleaning cycyles and want to get it dialled in-

is anyone familiar with the components?

its a 3 pedal machine- im not sure of the exact model - it has one arm and its done 13 - 16" tires so far.. im just curious about the large box underneath that leaks- ill try get in there and get a pic - ive checked the valves and repalced some worn orings on the pedal side - so thats not the issue- it leaks just sitting there.

What model?
All tire machines are fairly simple.
Incoming air goes into a diverter, splitting one line to fill up the onboard tank, and the other line that goes into another splitter that diverts to the respective foot valves.

All foot valves seal with a variety of o-rings. If a valve is leaking, remove, dissassemble, replace orings, and reinstall. Or... buy a chinese replacement valve for $20 on amazon.

Alternatively, the plastic lines sometimes crack and leak,.. as do the push to connect fittings.

Finally, you have a bead breaker piston... its the big square box inside. That has seals that can leak.

Take a pic of where you hear and feel the air escaping from.

There are air valves down under that are connected to the foot pedals. There are o-rings and seals in the body of the valve. I have had to replace those . Also once had to replace the spool valve, reason being that the guy that repairs the machines told us that part was bad/ worn out.

I have an old Coates 5030A tire machine that I just finished freshening up a couple of weeks ago. I cleaned it up, lubed it up, replaced all of the hoses, some of the connectors, and some of the seals, and believe it is now virtually leak free. There is a guy on YT (Dan’s Garage NC) that has a series of videos on how to disassemble it and replace leaking seals. I found them very helpful. Is the box you are having issues with maybe the bead loosener cylinder assembly?

Thanks all.. that really helps- as mentioned I’ve gone thru the valve bodies for pedals and lines- they don’t leak. That bead breaker box sounds like it’s the culprit-

I’ll check that guys videos and post back. Still unpacking into new shop and need to get working asap as I haven’t earned a dime in weeks.

Now that u mention it I believe I have the 5030 model as well- recall that being the one I have

The side it leaks doesn’t open or at least I haven’t looked- bead breaker works great but there’s an intermittent light hiss from inside - not very big and the machine works otherwise - I’ll try get some pics ..

Good to know about the piston kit tx

Here is a parts identification guide that might assist you. I found it helpful. Especially for torque specs. Those air cylinders require very little torque so they don't crack. Some of the 5030's had air motors and some had electric motors. Mine has the air motor and makes a bit of noise through the air muffler when turning the table top.
