a static phase converter will work fine
even getting a VFD to convert it would be reasonably priced

You may have a problem with running that unit if it uses regenerative braking. Steve in Socal made a great point about regenerative versus dynamic braking and rotary phase converter power recently.

Basically, if it uses regenerative braking it needs to sink power back into the power grid. Rotary and static phase converters will not allow that to happen which will likely trip the unit's fault ladder.

On the other hand, if it uses dynamic braking with a resistor grid, it should work fine on a rotary phase converter.

"Digital" solid-state phase converters may run a unit with regenerative braking on single phase power, depending on how the control is set up.

Bump. Did you (or anyone else) get a 3 phase Coats to work with a static phase converter? I have a 1001 that is supposed to be a working machine set up through a converter to my house 220 single phase. Not sure if it matters which leg of the 3 phase gets hooked to the generated phase on the converter. Converter buzzes like it is supposed to and all three output legs test at 110 v but balancer not turning on, no lights, nothing. When I pushed the start button it stayed in, is that correct? The two wires going to the hood sensor are jumpered together, I guess so it runs with the hood up. Help!

PROGRESS: By swapping the wires at the converter I have the display lit now, when I hit the start button it says ERR. But at least it's something....
