Precision twist drill. Enco, MSC, Amazon usually carry them. Norseman is also very good.

Looked at those. Look decent, but can they be resharpened? From what Ive read, they have a stepped point or something? Where did you get yours?

Hi Farmall. The stepped point is called a "split point" sharpening (and is usually at 135 degrees). This is in contrast to the regular twist drill sharpening method (which btw is usually slightly pointier at 118 degrees).

Cobalt (HSSco) is a little less impact resistant than plain HSS, so they compensate by making the web a bit thicker, but that makes them harder to start unless they use split points. The split point wanders less and bites in better and drills easier than a conventionally sharpened point.

These days split point is getting fairly common even on regular HSS bits, but cobalt bits nearly always seem to use them. They can all be sharpened if you have the right equipment, the higher end drill doctors definitely do split points.

Though I haven't yet tried it myself, I believe that if you're careful you can touch up a spilt point drill, at least for a few times, just using the standard old method on a bench grinder. Each time you do it you will widen the web slightly (as in introducing a little bit of chisel point), but they should still drill ok. As this happens you might have to start using a small pilot or starter hole though.
