Code for 220 to Garage

I've given up trying to get any sparky to come to my place to do a simple run and our local municipality has been far from helpful.
What should I be mindful of running ~100ft of 8/2 NM-B from my breaker in the basement of my house to my attached garage for very light welding?
Does this need to be in conduit?
Can I run it in the same wall cavity as 120? cat6? gas?
I want this in before I insulate my ceiling, it's not even going to be hooked up for some time, just want it there so I don't have to roll around in the mess later on.

As long as the NM-b is installed where it's not subject to damage conduit is not needed. It can be sleeved in conduit where you think it may get damaged. It needs to run along sides or through joist, not stapled along the bottom of floor joist. The use of running boards can supply protection. It can be run along with 120V but should be kept at least a foot or so from your Cat6.

NM-b does not need to be in conduit inside the wall

You can run it in same cavity as 120v lines(i assume thats what you meant)

I would keep it separated from communication cables and gas lines.
