code for pex water line crossing electrical?

is there a code for this? My water line will either need to run up the wall and cross my electrical or possibly run perpendicular under my electrical line by a couple of inches. Any advice? Thx

we cross paths all the time. the rule is that if there will be galvanic corrosion problems ie copper pipe touching aluminum or steel conduit or cable then you have to wrap one or the other to isolate them other than that just use common sense.

I'm not sure what code this is you are referring to (this 1 foot rule), but it's not in the NEC or any local code I have ever heard of.

There is NO separation code from water piping, especially Pex. I'm not sure where this urban legend code got started.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to run a water line for an outside spigot and it will be very close to my existing electrical, wasn't sure if I could go over or under the wire, didn't want to do anything that was unsafe that I would have to undo later.

Agreed. uniballer is probably referring to 110.26(E)(1) which disallows water pipes over a distribution panel unless provided with something like a drip pan, but there is no issue (that I'm aware of) with pipes and wires away from the panel.
