Code violations illustrated

I get a monthly electrical trade magazine titled EC&M. Every month they run photos of various code violations and wiring disasters that are submitted by readers which are always entertaining to look at. They've compiled some of the best (worst) ones on their website at

I find it entertaining that they find it necessary to quote chapter and verse of the code, rather than just calling it stupidity and leaving it at that. It's no violation, it's just WRONG and any idiot can see it.
Alot like the piles of goose **** people call welds.

Yes, it's easy to see that the work was done incorrectly, but the chapter and verse thing is part of the monthly quiz - they publish the pictures, and people write in to say which part or parts of the code were violated. If they're the first to write in with all the correct answers they win $50.

I was watching one of those shows about people looking to buy a house (this one in Hawaii). They walked into a bedroom and I saw the electrical situation and just had to take a picture.
