I bought my house 3 years ago and the original 1 car garage had been coverted to a family room by a previous owner and then the person i bought it from added a 2.5 car garage but it was never finished.

I had the place rented out for 2 years and the past year been getting stuff paid off and fixing things my tenants messed up in the house and now about to focus my attention on finishing the garage, I've done a few things here and there.

I moved the white cabinets and red counter top down the wall and put the old fridge from the house in the garage

the space in between the counters will be for engine storage

I cant find my progress pics so here is as it is now

some cabinets i found that people put out for trash that i'll eventually redo, and my fridge

IMG_2561_zps7c01f069.jpg

picked up some shevling from menards which can be made into work benches, however the wood is a bit weak so I plan to replace with some thicker wood

IMG_2564_zpsa97b2f84.jpg

moved these cabinets from the other side of the garage to here

IMG_2565_zps1baad181.jpg

picked up these upper cabinets off craigslist never used with a couple others, resold the others and got most of my money back

IMG_2566_zps75237667.jpg

my garage computer and my vintage fridge that belonged to my grandparents i plan to fix up

IMG_2572_zpsa9a10989.jpg

IMG_2574_zps9776c815.jpg

plan to do some kind of shelving above the garage door

IMG_2578_zpsf5c8e458.jpg

IMG_2571_zps71313618.jpg

IMG_2563_zps4612a1d9.jpg

Re: My 24x24 Garage

Picked up enough drywall to do my ceiling and 1 of my walls today, didn't get the rest as I need to do a few other things. Also I only had enough to hang one of my ledges for the ceiling drywall at the front of the garage

Re: My 24x24 Garage

Got my drywall lift today and got one sheet put this evening after work, I'll admit it was nice but still a bit tricky to get aligned by myself

Re: My 24x24 Garage

Just so you know, you should really be hanging the ceiling drywall the other way (perpendicular to the truss). You'll get a lot fewer cracks as the trusses flex w/ load and temperature changes.

I was thinking that but figured I'd have to add extra supports between the rafters, unless i cut the drywall to end directly on the rafter

lol the Vette is my mothers I was storing it for a little bit.

The GTO just got back from the body shop after being there since April.

I'm really wanting to get the space next to the GTO cleared out so I can bring the colorado back into the garage and start its motor swap.

5.3 L33 V8 out of a Silverado. Still need to do some more cleaning and painting on it

Is that factory color on the goat, keeping it original. If not, that thing screams for some judge stripes.

According to the body shop this is Apple Red, which was supposedly called Solar Red back in the 60's so yes it is a factory color.

The car can't get any stripes for awhile while the Paint is curing, hence why you dont see any GTO stickers on the rear quarters. Since the car actually belongs to my mother and she paid for the work she wants a white pin stripe but I'm trying to talk her out of it and maybe go for something else.

I'm as bright as I look in the picture above.
Re: My 24x24 Garage

Nice work, Drywall lift certainly makes things nicer, I learned that on my build.

Motor sway on the Colorado? I like where you are going with that. I was going to try an LS1 into my s10 before I sold it. Oh well, needed to focus on the garage anyway.

Yeah this is pretty much an LS1, the L33 is an aluminum version of the LM7 which is a iron block with aluminum heads. Same LS1 Gen III architecture though. Would of been nice to find a 6.2 litre Gen IV motor but oh well. This 5.3 only had 24,000 miles on it, so I can't complain too much.

Re: My 24x24 Garage

Lookin good there. Nothing as fun as hanging rock solo;) Track hanger rework looks good. I might suggest you could raise the lower portion of the diag brace to just above the track then cut the excess piece off that hangs down there waiting to catch your head.
