Coins and Flow Through

I'm planning the floor for a house I'm about to buy. Am thinking about doing the Round/Coin for the walkways and Free Flow for under the cars.

Anyone done this and have any pictures to share or opinions on this?

I like the design, and many people will combine the two. BUT....

There is something I like for customers to consider when doing this. You drive into your garage on a wet, muddy day. The crud starts to slide off your car and under the tiles. With all solid, no big deal, it mostly stays on top and is easy to clean. With all free flow, some goes through, but the floor is super easy to clean above and below.

Will your design all you to easily clean what falls through the flowthrough tiles and makes it under the solid tiles? It is a rhetorical question. Totally your call. Just something to think about

I did free flow tiles for my home in the Colorado high country. They were great for driving the car in with slush and snow and having it melt and drain away so you weren't walking on the wet. However, a lot of the dirt stayed on top of the tiles as it wouldn't drop through the openings. And there was a lot of dirt collected under the tile over the course of the winter. The only way to really clean underneath the tiles was to remove them, which was no small task.

Also, I made the mistake of putting some white tiles where the vehicle tires would go. After the first winter they got dirty and I was never able to get them clean again.

I placed 6 of the flow through where the four tires for my daily driver rest when it is parked in the garage, in a 2 tile wide, three long pattern. Living in the northeast snow does happen and I have found this limits the mess from the melting snow to much smaller areas and I have the smooth floor as a work area.
