Hey Guys/Gals I modified my Coleman 28 gallon air compressor to be a bit quieter. before it would scare the skin off of me when it started. Here's what I did.

Took the cover off the head

Fitted a portion of 3/8 pvc conduit to the intake pipe

Cut the cover of the compressor with a jig saw to accept the intake muffler

Put the head cover back on the compressor

Put the muffler on the PVC piped intake

I also put hockey pucks on the metal feet to absorb vibration noise.

The compressor is about 40-50 percent quieter now. I got the muffler from Princess auto here in Canada. Oh ya, the bungee is to keep the cover from vibrating. It's not a great fit and vibrates if not secure.

Hope this helps others out in quieting their compressors.

Very nice!

I thought I was the only one who liked to work all night...

I wanted to keep my compressor quiet, so added a muffler/filter to the intake and pulled all the sheet metal covers off and applied winter roof stuff to the insides (like dynamat only much cheaper). I also added a visco-elastic foot on the front. It is now quiet enough to use in the middle of the night without bothering anyone. Now I can do twice as much goofing off ;)
