Hey all, been watching posts and threads for a while now and cant explain how much envy I have for your build spaces, shed, garages, all of the above. I grew up with a very handy father who taught me just about everything I know when it comes to fixing things. I grew up in the city of Atlanta without a garage and only a small shed. probably 16' deep, 8' wide, and 10' tall. Thats where my dads bigger tools, table drop saw, and welding stuff. He also had a basement with everything else. I grew up with a passion for cars and boats so thats what most of our projects included. My father bought a 72' El Camino when he was 18 and we still have it which is now our restoration project due to it sitting outside for years not being used. My own car which is a 2012 Jeep Wrangler is my personal ongoing project. My father and I have done everything to it ourselves.

When I was graduating highschool and leaving for college I realized all of the tools I had been borrowing were my fathers and I wont have any to take to college. For my highschool graduation gifts all I asked for was tools. I didnt want money or anything else just tools!

During my senior year of highschool I started helping out the Georgia Tech Auto Club and they had a big toolbox setup that was breaking. They bought a new toolbox for the club and I was able to take home the old broken one. Not knowing what it was I called the company and ordered a new drawer slide and lock. Turns out it was a blue point 5 drawer mechanics box so everything was free.

I happily took it and all of collected tools to college and have become known as the "tool guy" since no one else has more than a simple tool bag from walmart at college.

Here are some pictures of where my toolbox sits now. I live in a fraternity house down at Florida Tech. I built the desk out of some spare wood laying around the house and finished it with some polyurethane. Tried to make the most of my half of the room. One day I'll have a garage with several tool boxes and several work benches.

Hey Jango, I am in the Melbourne area too! I drive right by FIT every morning up Babcock on the way to work. Since this is the "garage gallery" section, we can assume that your dorm room is also serving as your "temporary" garage. Nice garage! :D Seriously, good to hear that you learned all the stuff a boy should from his father growing up.

What's your major at school?
