Hey guys,

I post almost 4 years ago when I moved to Florida and had plans to build something there. . Turns out, I only lived there for a year. I took Terabyte's advice and left Florida.

I hated the job and the area.Just east of Colorado Springs, CO now. I have a 4.5 acre lot with no trees. The house sits almost in the middle of the property. Zoning says I can only build as big as the footprint of the house, 1774sq/ft. If I had 5 acres I could build whatever I want. I wanted a 40x60 but that can't happen unless I can talk one of my neighbors into loaning me some of their property long enough to get the permit
A 36x48 will eat up my allowed footage.

Anyway, I work and go to school so I won't be doing the building. A torn disc in my back also hampers things. I want something that doesn't look too industrial. May put up a shed roof/overhang to house a camper trailer.

I have a 3 car house garage but I want to be able to get my car projects out of there and leave it for my daily drivers and bike.

We have well water and get frequent hail in the summer. It's usually small though, pea size.

Anyone out here that could add anything they would have done; floor heat, solar panels, skylights, preferred builders?

Thanks0

Solar panels. Electric won't be getting cheaper. As an added bonus, they shade the roof. Check out your state and federal incentives.

Consider a loft as that will not count against your foot print square footage. I'd also check with the building department to get their take on a carport that could be enclosed at a later date.

Couple of shipping containers spread apart and a truss roof built over em. Add more concrete and enclose as time and money permit.
