Hello all.
I have a three car garage in the Denver area. It's not much, but it is mine. This isn't a "build thread", because I didn't really document anything. I'm simply posting because SO MANY of the ideas for my little shop came from this message board and I hope someone else can get something from my pictures.
Quick backstory:
We moved here from Houston almost three years ago. In Houston I had an acre, an attached two car and a detached two story four car. The two car was for the wife's car and all yard equipment. The four car was all mine. I was on more of a budget then, but still had a pretty cool shop. It even had a keg.
Fast forward. We moved to ultra suburbia. My neighbors may as well be roommates they're so close. All my shop stuff has to fit in the three car WITH a vehicle. Challenge accepted. (Because the wife wanted the house.)
Flooring:
Before we even moved in I had the floor professionally finished. I had them only use white flake because I didn't want the black flakes hiding any dropped screws and such. It came out pretty good.
Electrical:
I put a ton of outlets in, and ran dedicated 220 for my compressor and welder/plasma. I even splurged and ran a single remote breaker for the compressor so I don't have to walk over to it and turn it on.
Lighting:
After much research on GJ I tapped into the measly three incandescent light fixtures and ran surface mounted conduit to 24 LED strips from Sam's. Awesome. Beyond awesome.
Misc.:
I plumbed up from the basement and installed a sink with hot and cold water, and built a cabinet around the sink. I also installed a closet in the corner, in part to store bigger stuff such, and in part to hide the breaker box, inverter and other ugly components of my roof-mounted PV system.
Work Surfaces:
I copied the coolest work bench ever. You know the one. I also wrapped it and the sink area with 22 gauge stainless. Both surfaces are the exact same height as my welding table. On a side note, the welding table has wheels, but also has threaded feet so I can level it and move it as needed. It also doubles as my sitting area with a retractable swivel seat.
Storage:
I have store-bought overhead cabinets and a ceiling mounted shelf for bins. I also built a rack for steel storage, and my band saw fits nicely underneath.
Air:
I have a way fancier air system than I need. But I like it and think it looks good.
Here are the pictures. Thank you all very much for three years of ideas.
