My "go-to guy" for sealers at the ready-mix plant I deal with most worked for Euclid Chemical for 8 years, he's got a pretty good idea what's going on, and I've always been able to get ahold of the company directly if there was ever an issue. They sell for a fraction of your prices as well, and I can pick it up the same day. Just letting people know theres' MANY other BIG sealer manufacturer's out there than just those here..........
You are absolutely 100% correct. Many times there are great local options and if you have one there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with buying the product locally. In fact, as you indicated it might even save you some money.
Those of us who are here are here to provide advice. Sometimes it starts to sound like a sales pitch, but the only legitimate footing we have for being here is to help you make the best decision for what is best for you!
Euclid Chemical is an awesome manufacturer. If your local Ready Mix is buying in large enough quantities they are likely bring the product in freight prepaid and they have no freight out costs. On a gallon of material that can easily equate to $20 +
My guess is they are suggesting something like

Now keep in mind, acrylic sealers are maintainance sealers. They ABSOLUTELY will need to be redone from time to time. I am curious. Do you have a spot that is relatively hidden? What happens if you wipe the (hidden) area with some Xylene?
Assuming what you have there now is a solvent based acrylic, you can go back over it with another in most cases with very little prep work. Always test it first.
To be really really clear though, you will do it again at some point. BUT the alternative is completely removing the sealer that is there and going back with a urethane.
