I found this thread (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76214&highlight=columbian+d54) which is exactly the same vise I just got as a freebie in a deal.
I opened the vise up to clean it and to measure the width, and was surprised that it opened all the way and came apart. I think I'm missing a part that keeps the wise from backing all the way out, shown here:

Anyone know what the part is, or if I can use a bolt or something else to limit the movement? I know it's not the best vise in the world, but it was a freebie and it's better than the other one I have in my garage now, so I'd like to use it.
