That does not resemble a professional vise.
It doesn't even look as good as the Irwins.
I'm amazed something like that says Made in USA on it. Looks like a cheap consumer grade vise to me.
I saw a really nice newer Columbian awhile back - seller wouldn't come down from $250 on it so I passed, but I can confirm they have made them in the recent past.
Not sure where in the post op mentioned it being a "professional" vise. Nor do I even know what that means. Professional vise part clamper? Some of the guys in the vise thread qualify for that, imho.
Surprisingly, even US made products have "cheap consumer models". Believe it or not, these stamped steel slide vises like the op's are actually pretty tough. You've obviously never seen or used one, but Columbian vises are in ample supply where I live, and I have.
Also, thanks for that confirmation. there are quite a few new Columbian vises available from Amazon and other retailers online, so you might be on to something!
You could have just not commented, or maybe said "price is a lil steep." (Which it is) but sheer ignorance?
