Columbian Vise Inverted Triangle with a C?

Sorry for not posting this in the vise thread, but I don't have the time to try keeping up with the pages and pages that get added constantly.

A friend just brought home a Columbian vise with 7" wide jaws but it's got the inverted triangle with a C like they used on their anvils. I don't recall ever seeing that on a vise before? Has anybody else seen that combo before?

While the picture doesn't show the size well, I saw a picture of the jaws with a tape measure on them, and it's clearly a full 7" wide. They also had a picture with the overall length...around 28". He's going to get better pictures for me soon.

Nice, it looks like an original Columbian no.507 vise. I'd say around (1915-1919) with those jaws and the cast "triangle C".

The photo below is an older than that, Columbian no.36 vise.

Thanks! I really did look, but couldn't find one with the triangle C at all and the few references I found to similar vises had the flat insert jaws rather than the U-shape.

My friend isn't going to keep it, so it'll make a vise collector happy, I'm sure!
