This is a model 504 Columbian vise I'm thinking about driving to buy. Is this the way the jaws are supposed to look? I don't have any good pictures of the grips themselves, but it doesn't appear to me that there is a lot of texture on this one. Any idea how heavy this vise would be?

They are t jaws, replaceable but expensive, $100 a pop.

If you don't have to drive far or its cheap go for it otherwise the jaws might be fubard. I have flat jaws on my 604.

Yeah you can't really tell by the pic if those are serrated or flat jaws (they could be ordered with either)... Other than that they don't look worn, the thickness seems proper.

Coulda be worn down. The t jaws could be modded to accept rectangular jaws is the top of the t was removed but unless you can do this I feel it's way too much money to make that happen.

My 504 1/2 (IIRC) is about 40 pounds, give or take. Not a lot of "texture" wouldn't bother me, you don't really want marks on everything you clamp in it. Those vises are sturdy enough that you don't really have to crank hard on it to get them to hold stuff in my experience.
