I just did a restoration of an old Columbian M503 vise. My family has had it since WWII. All of the original paint was gone. I did some research and found that many of them were red. It was taken completely apart, sandblasted, and primed before putting it back together. The jaws were removed by knocking out pins on the underside. I think it turned out pretty good.

I have a small D43 1/2 that I want to restore, but it looks more orange than red. Which is what your pictures look like. Just wondering what you used.

I used Krylon gray primer and Krylon Gloss Banner Red. Depending on the light, it looks very red and at other times, it has an orange/red tint.
