Not to be a stickler, but just using the site as a personal appraisal service without adding any useful content is poor form. That's just my personal opinion mind.

^^^^^^ Agreed. ^^^^^^
I wasn't going to say it, but since someone else has pointed it out, here I go.

While we may offer opinions about values from time to time, the forum's real purpose is to provide an outlet for tool fans to gather, discuss our passions, and assist each other with any tool related issues we may have. It isn't an appraisal service, or a seller's retail outlet.

Starting out your membership by fishing for a value and offering to sell to the membership is just bad forum manners. If you would like to sell to the membership, then contribute to the discussions and to the GJ community. Once you've established yourself and developed a relationship with the members there is another section of the site that can be used to sell in (not here). You need a minimum of 100 posts to qualify to post in the classified section. This is to ensure that the forum remains a member friendly site and not an auction house or beggar's bazaar.

I understand that your intent may have been pure, but the impression didn't translate.

I'll agree in that all threads started and posts where dealing with getting values of vises and selling them. I believe there is not much you can Google anymore and not direct them to the GJ.

^ ^ ^ TMI . . . . this is 3rd vise in row that OP has ONLY wanted "market price" from GJer's so he could SELL a garage sale vise.

Google can search entire USA for CL listings.

Ebay has search of completed listings.

Thanks for the help, its a shame to stir up so much drama from so many, if any of you want to see how a forum works go to the cast iron collector and see how we help folks determine what they have and values, I couldn't find much on this vise so I posted it, blah blah

If it's a forum dedicated to appraisals or similar, then yes, that's how a forum would work. That's not how this one works however, nor any other community forum deserving of that title. You may think it's being finnicky, but it's not. Life consists of give and take, not just take. Any forum worth its salt is no different.

Your attempt at derision, condescension with the blah, blah does nothing to disprove my point, btw. Very poor form.
