Or whatever the heck you want to call it. Seems like there isn't a standard name for it.

Anyway...I need a 12mm. Any other companies make it besides Snap On? $50 is hard to justify for only using once or twice a year.

This is the type I mean.

For some odd *** reason those are called "Saltus" :dunno: wrenches. Mac, Cornwell, Craftsman...and many more made those style wrenches. Sometime you luck up and find them in pawn shops...flea markets etc...

They're called Saltus wrenches because they were pioneered by a company in Germany called Saltus.
http://catalog.saltus.de/cgi-bin/timeline.shop5/saltus1/shop_main.cgi?func=det&wkid=&rub1=HANDTOOLS%20RANGE&rub2=WRENCHES%2CFlexible%20Combination%20Wrenches%2CFlexible%20Combination%20Wrenches&artnr=889&pn=0&sort=0&partnr=0003010012&all=

Of course Saltus themselves don't call them saltus wrenches. They call them "flexible combination wrenches"
They have a hole at the open end for a tommy bar, like Gedore, which is smart. Without that feature, they're not nearly as useful.

I found a tommy bar to fit the hole in the handle of my 3/8 Koken breaker bar and it's similarly effective. Just without the option of using the open end.
I really think that all breaker bars should have a hole for a tommy bar. It's really handy. (As long as you don't keep losing the tommy bar!):wtf:

Hi have always referred to them as junkyard wrenches. That's what guys in my area called them and they work well for rusty applications because you can apply so much torque.

I own Snap On and Saltus. Both good tools. The Snap On are a bit longer, which is nice!

Whatever you buy you will probably use 'em a lot. They are my 'go to' tools for a lot of jobs, especially automotive stuff (great for door hinges and suchlike where there isn't a lot of 'depth').
