I have the 5000 watt version of this, works fine although I did have to replace the thermostat last year in it (heater still ran, but it was either on or off, no temp adjustment). For what I paid for it and the $20.00 new thermostat off of ebay it was still a lot cheaper than any of the other 5000 watt heaters I saw at the time.
I liked this one since it has adjustable heat output via a 3 way switch on the front panel since i have limited amps going to my garage, i can turn it down to the lowest setting while using other power tools, but turn it up to heat it quickly before I start working.

Can I ask what size your garage is, I insulated or not, and how well does that size heat?

Honestly I don't care where its made as long as it works. I'd prefer USA made but if they both work I'll take the one that's 200 cheaper

My Dayton G73 5000w turns off at the thermostat. I used it list night. I got to work in the shop about 2 hours. The little 5kW moved all 960 sq/ft from 58F to 74F in about an hour.

Garage is a single car around 250 sq ft with r13 insulation all around. the unit turns off completely when you turn the dial fully counter clockwise.
