Comfortable shop shoes?

I've had a pair of Redbacks going on 2 years now, still look basically new (and yes I do wear them). Leather so safe for welding and hot chips. The sole is a hard rubber that seems like it wouldn't be comfortable or grippy, but they are. Also pretty good about not picking up metal bits, rocks or other objects not welcome in the house.

Tried murells for a bit and been doing Keen a few years.
I heard of those brands from hikers.I don’t remember the other brands to try after Keen.
For me the Keen was a step up but been thinking of finding better.

They quit making my go to Rocky years ago.The search is real.lol

Been wearing nothing but New Balance for the last 8 years or so. Can't find anything else in a 6E width. I get them from shoes.com and prices are way below what I would have to spend at the NB store. Shipping is generally 2-3 days on them. I go thru about 3-4 pairs a year on average. I'm often having to lean onto the airplane and hold myself in position with the inboard 1/2" of the sole, so that part gets chewed up pretty fast.

I'm reconsidering my choice of Keen's that I ordered. Nothing wrong with them but I think I want full leather uppers. It seems to me that leather is more resistant to everyday shop **** that gets sprayed/dripped on shoes vs. textile suede. As much as I didn't like my Danner Romeo's comfort wise, the leather uppers have held up really well.

I was looking for Safety Shoes that fit well. Work was paying and I tried on lots of shoes, looking for a version where the safety toe did not bother my big toe knuckle. The only one I found was the RedWing Cooltech Athletics. My use case is I need it at customer sites and in certain locations at work. The BOA® Lacing System works really well. Super comfortable and no break-in period. I would not get them for everyday work-site use, but great in the garage.

For my new pair I'm avoiding safety toe shoes. For one, in my garage there are very few foot/toe hazards. Two, I often take impromptu shake down spins on motorcycles and safety toe is a big no-no when riding.

I will third the Skechers. Just ordered a new pair a couple of days ago. Walking shoes with their gogo mat insoles. If you sign up on their site, you get free shipping (no minimum) and they should send you an email with a code for 25% off your first order. I will add I used to usually wear flip flops/glides, but I really like my skechers now

these things are really comfortable

Late to the party but will throw some others out there for sport. I’ve been using Rockport Work hard toes. They are slip on sperry type with a safety toe. I don’t really need a safety toe all the time, but I found that going from using them only sometimes how much I use my feet for aligning or slide material until I try it without the hard toes.

For boots I swear by Thorogoods, broke in right out of the box and last a long time. When I worked underground and had to wear full metatarsal boots I went with Wolverines because the were instantly comfortable, but they did not last worth a damn, throwaways after 3 months. Matterhorns would last a year or two but would have sores for the first 3 months of every new pair.

I found the Merrell Moab shoes a while back and freaking love them. Most comfortable shoes I have ever had on my feet. Not safety shoes, just comfortable on your day all day shoes.

Birkenstock makes safety rated steel toe clogs.(they have a back)
The clogs have cork insoles, or if you want something else, Birkenstock makes a couple other types of insoles as well.
The model is the A640.
Comes in Black, white, and possibly navy blue and green.

I have leather version of closed toe Birkenstock. But not steel toe.
BTW - i have narrow heet and Birkenstock is one of the very few brands which offers shoes for narrow feet.

Thanks everyone. Lots of suggestions! I ordered a pair of Keen Utility shoes along with a set of Lock Laces. Good thing about AMZN is the easy return policy if for some reason I don't like them.

I have several pairs of boots but I am after shoes, and easy on/off (I'm hoping the Lock Laces facilitate this). Full grain leather is preferable so I'll check out some of those options that were recommended.

I have a pair of keen braddocks for work and a pair of their athletic shoes for days off that have the lock laces. I also have wolverines I alternate for work. Neither brand really feel particularly comfortable and take a long time to break in but your feet don’t hurt at the end of the day. Sketchers are the opposite. They’re soft and comfy to wear for a couple hours around the house but you’re in pain half way through a work day

Unless I’m welding I try to cycle through my remaining pairs of hikers.

I’d really like a pair of PF Flyers-with the Action Wedge to make you run fast and jump high.

I’ve been wearing Redwing postal worker oxfords for the past 25 years in the warm months. In winter I switch to Carolina’s insulated work boots, wish I had “in floor” heat in the shop.

Merrell Moab is available with a composite safety toe both in shoe/sneaker and hiker styles. Been wearing Moab for past year and find them comfortable and durable. Going to try the composite toe hikers next.

Also have had good results with Timberland Pro, Rocky Alphaforce ,Tactical Research and Thorogood in duty style black boots if you are looking for full leather type.

Thanks for all the advice.

After a lot of ordering, trying, returning, I finally settled on these Redbacks. . .
