Since the majority of my day is spent standing on concrete and my current pair of RedWings are nearing their end, I was wondering what your recomendations are for good, comfortable work shoes. I need non slip oil resistant soles, steel toe is not a requirement but water resistant would be nice.

I used to wear Red Wings exclusively, but a Hytest Safety Footwear truck comes to my place of employment twice a year and I asked the guy for Red Wings. He did have the Red Wings but asked me to try the Hytest boots. He said they are like wearing your "slippers" at work. I was like yeah right but I tried them and he was right. They are the most comfortable boots I have found yet. They are lighter and just fit my foot better than the Red Wings did. I have been purchasing them ever since.

I keep going back to Red Wings - every 4 or 5 years - they just last and last. I also buy the arch support - my feet used to hurt every morning when I stepped out of bed - thats all better now.

I,ve got some Jallatte Jalsiberians (I think they are Canadian??) Insulated and Goretex with a Vibram sole, very comfortable and warm, 8" high to keep out the snow and mud maybe not practical for indoors but they have a good range of different boots.

I worked as a machine operator and set up man at a ball nearing manufacturing company for almost five years. Oil and cutting fluid coated the floors at all times making them slick as glass. Wolverines were the only way to go. The gripped the floors like cleats on grass, were as comfortable as walking shoes and above all.....held up against the daily beating they took.

I've wore red wings for probably well over the past decade. I don't know why but even though I wear them down until there are holes in the bottom I still can't bring myself to throw them away... lol...

ANYHOW... I've noticed that a new pair is sooooo much comfortable at first. Over time that cushioning wears out and you either need to get some replacments or Dr. Scholls to keep that "new" cushioning effect...

Also I've noticed that new socks add quite a bit of cushioning vs old ratty ones with holes in the bottom... lol.

Redbacks all the way. Had mine for 3 or 4 years now. Daily working in them (a couple of auto shops, roofing, concrete, and now in a diesel shop) and wearing them daily even not at work. I'm still surprised how well they've held up.

I'm wearing Coastal with good results. Will be trying Redbacks next. See if they live up to what I hear!

I have a pair of Justin boots. They were a PITA to break in but after a few rough days they are more comfortable than my combat boots, and I've walked a few miles in those.

Thorogood has some nice boots for a decent price that are made in the US

+1. My first pair were super comfortable but unfortunately the wedge sole didn't hold up so well on concrete all day. Wore them smooth in a matter of months. The soles on the pair I have now are holding up nicely and the boots are super comfortable, they feel like a pair of sneakers.

I have been wearing Red Wings for 20 some years. They last for years and are very comfortable. I too wear arch supports for the last two years and can jump out of bed with happy feet.

X2, I wear mine almost every day and they are very comfortable.

I hear good things about Redbacks but where can you try them on before buying them?

The only source I've seen is direct from Oz. (expensive shipping and expensive return if the fit isn't right)

I got mine through my Matco dealer. He let me try on a few pairs until I found a pair that fit good.

I have had my redback for about two years. Soles are still good and the toes not worn out. Real good boot. Have just replaced the insoles with original replacement insoles. Best boots ever

I tried redbacks recently and my legs ended up hurting using them. so now sits a lightly used pair while I am using my Coastal made snap on branded ones again.

most people like the redbacks, they are more expensive through the matco guy from what I have seen if you search online and know what you want and what size you need you can find them for less
