This place is a godsend. Thanks for all of the great information. I plan to epoxy my garage - here are some details and am Hoping for any feedback you all might have.
Basics:
Concrete is 11 years old
Unsealed.
Did the plastic/duct tape test. Dry as a bone after 24 hrs
Located in Minnesota
Generally heated in winter - Temps between 35 and 50 F.
Mild pitting and spalling
Have chiseled out the dead spots where spalled. Most less than 2-3" by 1/2 deep after chiseling
Most pits less than 1/4 by 1/4.
Saw cuts at 1/4 x 1/2 deep with one at 1/2 x up to 1 deep. This one has definitely spread but is level.
Patching:
Was planning on using an epoxy or polyurea based patch, even on small pits. Don't want to spread a resurfacer across large sections.
I'd like to fill my saw cuts
Prep:
Degrease, patch, fill cuts and grind - IS THIS THE RIGHT ORDER?
For the wide saw cut, was planning on using a foam rod to fill the bottom.
Material:
Epoxy-coat, flake & clear coat.
So, my questions for the experts are:
1. Should I use a primer?
2. What is the right order for prep? More specifically, should I diamond grind before or after patching and saw cut filling? If I grind before, should I etch the patches?
3. Recommendations on pit and spall patch - would like to use the same material
4. Recommendation on saw cut filler. Seems to be a huge difference of opinion regarding use of simple latex vs other epoxy fillers.
