I have been looking at this Pittsburgh Pro screw driver set at HF. For the money it seems like a very good value. I know the tips wont last as long as the German brands and it does not have a P3 which is a bit of a let down. In spite of all that, it may be a good value to add to my travel box. I don't want to worry about losing one or an inconvenience warrantee process.

I am sure there must be a few dozen or more people on here who use them.

What are your experiences?

One question I have is this: Can the hole be used with a another screw driver for more leverage with out damaging it.?? Since it does not have a bolster I am wondering if they are made well enough to use them in this way. The Wiha say they can do that.

I don't have any HF screwdrivers but I will say that the tips on my Wera set haven't impressed me. They grip well when new but don't last long at all. Other German brands might be better but I have a few Felo bits that are just as soft. I'm not sure if HF can do much worse with a standard screwdriver but for the price it'd be worth a shot. Lots of folks here think highly of them.

I’ve got a couple of that style, but not the set. They work well, no complaints out of me. I’d purchase them again and have used much worse. I’ve got everything from dollar store junk to Craftsman Pro to Snap-on so...

Honestly I think they’re on par with my Craftsman Pro/SK screwdrivers.

If they’re a need, I’d buy them. You’re talking about $8 for a set of screwdrivers.

Actually, I think Witte screwdrivers have the hole in the handle for hanging/additional torque.

This screwdriver set is one of the best things you can buy from harbor freight. I'm not a fan of most harbor freight tools but, these work and for the cost, you can't really beat them.

I have that set from back when they were orange and green. I am very impressed with them. I use the PH1 daily in an industrial workplace. The tip is still in great shape. I also like the shape and feel of the grip far better than the craftsman red/black pro's I have. They can be had for about $8 a set with a coupon so Its a definite buy from me. This is the best screwdriver that Harbor Freight carries. There are other drivers out there that are better but they are far more expensive than these..

I have a set and have gifted a set to a rancher that abuses them on a regular basis.
I think they are are one of the better HF items.

I bought that set maybe 5 years ago for one of my tool boxes, those tips wore out within a couple months. HF will replace them but its not worth the hassle. Since then I upgraded all my screwdrivers and have yet to wear one out as bad as the HF did in a couple months.

I keep them on my work's workbench as loaner tools. The large slotted does make a decent pry bar and soft face hammer, sometimes its nice to have junk tools around.

I have to confess I thought Craftsman screwdrivers were top notch before I came to GJ lol.
So with that out of the way, I have that HF set and they work pretty good. They seem to grip Philips heads better than my old Craftsmans do.

I have a big variety of screwdrivers, including Wera and Proto. I also have the HF set you mention too. They are not bad and especially for the money and you will not be upset if you lose one.

I have that set and I bought all the singles not included in the set. I really like them, but I don't use them everyday either.

I bought this set a few months ago and will probably buy another set the next time i'm in a HF. They're comfortable in my hand, fit the screws well, seem to be holding up just fine, and are inexpensive.

I've used the set for over a year. Like it. Buy two, as my family decided to "borrow" some and I have yet to find them again.

This is one of the best secrets in HF. I have a couple of sets at the house and in the truck. These are really a nice set for the money. Buy a couple of sets, you won't regret it.

Do you mean a bit driver set? or a pass through socket set?

I like how those Husky screwdrivers have square shanks so you can put a wrench on them for extra leverage. At about $2 per tool and lifetime warrantee you can't complain.
I looked at the video in the link and they really stress the lifetime warrantee. They even have an example of a hammer getting run over by a lawn mower and showing it will be replaced free of charge. No Problem! While I was watching it, I could not stop thinking why is the video narrator wearing gloves?

Thanks for all of comments. I think I will pick one or two of the Pitts Pro sets up. Just wish it had the P3 and a hex bolster. To me, That would be worth paying up. Maybe in their next revision.

How long is that? ;)

I have two sets, since I mis-place a lot. They seem to work just like screwdrivers, so not sure what else to expect them to do.

Never had any tip break or deform, but don't own any German screwdrivers, to compare.

I agree it's odd they don't include the #3, but I have a Cman, that I really don't use a lot.

I found the answer to my question......Go through screw driver implies the steel shaft goes through the handle so you can strike it with a hammer and not abuse it too badly.
I knew of these as demolition screw drivers. It does add a little bit more weight.
Yes, it would be great if that feature was also added to the Pitts Pro set.

These drivers look pretty good for the money, it seems middle of the road tool co's like Gearwrench, Tekton, etc don't necessarily make better quality sets despite being perhaps 3-5x the price. I'd buy some. I can't stand spending good money for cheese screwdrivers.

Definitely not as nice as Gearwrench or Tekton, not as heavy and the tips wear faster. Tekton's finishing is a little worse, leaving burred (sharp) edges on the tip but I'd definitely still prefer the Tektons.

I'm not ready to make something HF my go to item for other than destructive use. Tossing a set of the free ones in the trunk is a no brainer though.

I like the feel and use the Husky 4 in 1 a lot, otherwise I stick to niceer screwdrivers or whatever I find first that fits.
