I posted last week about the wall mounted door openers and I think I am not going to go that route. Now I am thinking a commercial opener. My door is 10' high. Can I cut off 4' from a 14' trolly. Is there enough adjustment to set the up/down limit?

I have more questions than answers.

You can buy rails to match the height of the door for both residential and commercial openers. No need to cut rail and shorten the chain.

To answer your question sure you can, but why would you pay extra for the length just to cut it off?

I had to cut 12 inches off a 12 foot rail to make it fit into the ceiling space.
Chain would have been easy (it is just bicycle chain) but the rubber belt required a fix it kit.
The major adjustment triggers off the chain travel
The fine adjustment doesn't care about the major adjustment.
