Commercial toilet with "flushometer"?

I'm planning a remodel for the dirty old bathroom in my shop, I've decided I want to go totally industrial. I want to waterproof the entire thing and be able to clean it with a a hot water hose and a floor drain. :D

I've been looking at commercial wall mount toilets like this:
http://www.bathroomfurnituredirect.com/American-Standard-2257.103-ASD2164.html
that have a "flushometer" valve instead of a standing tank. I might also install a urinal with the same thing. They're a lot cheaper than I thought they would be.

How do you plumb in a thing like that? Does the flushometer need a huge, high pressure water supply in order to work, since there's no tank? Unfortunately although I get at least 70psi water pressure at my shop the flow is terrible, you can't turn on more than one water tap at a time.

Obviously I'd have to move the sewer lines from my floor mount toilet but that won't be too hard...besides the 12" of concrete on top of it...:eyecrazy:

I put in a urinal in my detached residential garage with a Sloan Flushometer valve; similar to what you are proposing. Not very hard. They did specify 3/4" supply line to the urinal. Very specific rough-in measurements for the valve and bracing for the urinal. Flushes fine.

I am on a private well and the garage is served via a 1.25 inch black poly line. My water pressure swings between 55 and 70 psi.

If you have very poor water flow, you may need to add a bladder tank to deal with the temporary flow needs.

If all you want is to get the toilet off the floor for easier cleaning, they do make commercial wall hung toilets with water tanks which will address your low flow issue. Some even have pressure assist. My company will be installing these in the near future:

You may want to delete the pressure assist if your flow is poor and use a conventional tank.

You would have to buy the carrier fitting for the wall. Most will require a 1" water line. IMO its not worth the trouble.

Well I just got done doing that in my home. It was a process to figure out how to get it to work but I am very happy with the results. The end result (without going through the trial and error part) is a 3/4 inch valve meter from the city, 2.5 gal expansion tank, ran by 3/4 pex line to get a 1.6 liter Kohler commercial toilet to flush. I can't go into great detail right now, have stuff to do but if you want the whole story and pics I would be more than happy to help.

That's what I think I may have to do - use a small expansion tank for the flusher. I think Lowes sells a 2 gallon for $39. As it is right now if you flush the toilet you can barely use the faucet. I really like the idea of tankless/wall mount for cleaning. I'll probably do the whole rest of the bathroom in white tile.

Would it be possible to just bolt a wall mount toilet like that to a (filled) concrete block wall?

They have wall carries that have the use a tank hiden inside the wall. Not cheap but might be easier than getting a flushometer setup to work with residential water supply.

Yeah, I saw those...I can't understand why they cost 3 times more than the toilet? :headscrat I think a 2-5 gallon bladder tank would be better for me if that kind of thing will work, I have a "loft" on top of my bathroom where the water heater is mounted, a tank would fit there perfectly. This is a commercial setting, but my water supply is only 1/2", and I think it comes from China or somewhere close.

I think now it's only a question of floor mount vs wall...I'm really liking the flushometer thing. I want one of the ones that flushes automatically after you stand up. :bounce: I want the whole thing to be ADA compliant too, not an issue now, but may be in the future...

if you go with the flushometer style, consider extending the valve higher up so users don't use their foot to flush..........we have close to 50 toilets to maintaun on site and all them suffer from loose connections due to ppl using their feet to activate the valve............and who can blame them?......bending over to put your face closer to the mess.........mount valve higher and brace the down pipe.........also keep in mind the heaviest user that will be using the toilet as the carrier is rated for only so much...........i was thinking of going for a wall mount but the hassle of installation , etc., has me rethinking this..........a tip for the walls would be to go for tiles at the floor -wall junction that have a curve/radius [?] so you don't have a 90* corner for **** to accumulate from subsequent moppings..........

That's interesting, you'd think they would make them stronger, that must happen daily in public restrooms.

Can anybody explain or show a pic of what the back of a wall mount toilet looks like? Can I fab up some kind of metal frame to mount it on that goes inside the wall? Can I install simple plastic piping on the poop outlet? :)
