I am looking for a source for common J section poly-v automotive pulleys. I want to modify them for woodworking tool use. If I could find out what car models use J section for their power steering or water pump pulleys I would be able to find pulleys. Automotive pulley manufacturers never say what section type the pulleys are. Most automotive serpentine belts and pulleys are K section.

Don’t use automotive pulleys. They would be hell to adapt to a shaft and have runout in tolerance
Get a gates or Martin catalog online in pdf and order through McMaster Carr or even ebay(for a lot better prices. Use QD bushings and compatible pulleys. If you have a lathe you can even make a pulley

I'm not worried about modifying the pulley and having it run true, I can do that. I haven't found any automotive pulleys that were J-section. Looks like I might have found a few J pulleys commonly used on lawn mowers and snow throwers.

I had to look this up.
J section is .092" pitch distance between the crests or roots.
I think you're going to have to take a piece of belting to a junkyard as a go/no-go gage and start looking around at which manufacturers use J- section.
