Common Lug Nut Sizes

To the be realistic though u will only really need a 19/21 or 13/16/3/4 thin wall sockets as thin walls are really for custom wheels
It would be best to get a deep impact set as u will use them the most on wheels and other jobs

Seems to be a common thing with the lugnuts on Chrysler vehicles. With every Jeep Wrangler or Dodge Ram I ever owned in the last 20 years I got into the habit of just replacing those factory lug nuts during the first tire rotation to avoid problems. But I buy Ford pick-ups now.

I have thought about getting a set like this (or piecing one together) http://www.sears.com/craftsman-7-pc-chrome-lug-nut-set-1-2/p-00942124000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 for my road box as I don't have any 1/2" drive deeps and I would rather carry a breaker bar and sockets than a star wrench. I don't like how they are mostly 12pt, but here in AZ we don't deal with rusty lug nuts. They also have an impact set http://www.sears.com/craftsman-7-pc-easy-read-impact-lug-nut-set/p-00915359000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2, but I have run into too many instances where an impact socket won't fit. Also, being a road box, I won't have an impact gun with me.

I think dodge is 22mm

Heavy duty trucks with Budd wheels will use a 33MM. Older trucks with Dayton wheels will use 1 1/4”. Old Budd wheels used 1 1/2”hex and 13/16” square

HOWEVER, it's not the lug nut that counts, it's the thread size on the bolt, right? I have seen the same thread size on different sizes of lug nuts

Since op is looking for sockets, I think the threads are irrelevant.

I haven't seen much 17mm or Euros come by.
I'm just on a tight budget at the moment. Firestone doesn't pay me much.
Not to mention I'm just starting out.

VW/Audi love to use 17mm

I know it is an old thread, but the answer is gray lug nut sockets, they are the thinnest and the have the plastic sleeved to protect the wheels, and they are cheap to buy.
