Compact, portable table saw

I am in the market for a new table saw. I would like a compact, portable one. My use is purely homeowner. I store it in the shed and wheel it out to the patio. I would also like to load it into the truck for the occasional odd job perhaps. Super accurate and easy to use. Reasonably priced considering it is for hobbyist use. I saw the dewalt table saw at home depot, it looked nice. Any experience out there?

I've probably had it 6-7 yrs now and have logged some miles on it.I have no complaints as it has done everything I would expect a compact saw to do. It's lightweight and easy to handle.Adequate power for ripping 2x stock.The fence is accurate and locks securely. The 24" rip capacity is more than sufficient for this size saw.Most likely you will be breaking down sheet goods with a circular saw rather than this saw.I see they have a folding stand available for this.I just use mine on sawhorses but I can see that the stand might be more stable.
I feel this saw meets your criteria and is fairly priced.Hope this helps.

What he said.....and the stand goes great with it, very stable. Light enough that it doesn't need wheels.

That's the saw I have with the stand. It's small enough thst I hang it on the wall. I rip full sheets all the time with no issues.

i have the cman equivalent of the dewalt listed above and so far it has been great. I got it for the exact reasons listed. i didnt have much space / homeowner use / needed to roll it around

Dewalt's are decent, but I like the configuration of the Bosch GTS1031 since it allows for vertical storage.

I did not read through the thread just read the first post, mostly.

I would make sure the fence has a fine adjustment with thumb control or something similar. Try making fine adjustments with he fence. Also check how square it is and make sure it can be as square as you need it to be. It not uncommon to have a saw not be square out of the box. Get a couple good blades. If this is going to be in your home, I would go big, instead of portable. Portable is for taking the saw to different job sites with minimal set up.

I have a RIDGID saw and get a hell of a lot of use out of it. Other than ripping large sheet goods, there is little I can do on a larger cast iron saw that I cannot do on this portable saw.

One advantage of the RIDGID over the Dewalt, the table on the right extends out, so you have more support than just the little flip-over fence that the dewalt includes. Also the rip fence is strong and comes on and off very easily.

Both Ridgid and Bosch make nice "full size" portable saws with a folding stand. Not cheap, but the fold up feature makes them nice for storage.
