Hey Guys & Gals,

Which is the better 2-post lift for car restoration work, Dannmar D-10/CX 2-Post Car Lift or BendPak XPR-10A Asymmetrical 2 Post Car Lift in your experience? I'm working on sports cars that weigh less than 2500 lbs. I respect the forum members' opinions and Garage Equipment Supply is having a good sale.

Thanks for reading,
Tim

Also, if you are just working on a 2500lb car what is prompting you to buy a 10k lift? Seems like a lot of wasted money on your part that won't ever get used, even if on sale. If you work on an HD truck or 2500 SUV then I can understand getting the 10k, but if it's just a 2500lb pound car...

Your actual question is somewhat loaded as everyone will have their favorite and be biased to it. If I had to pick I'd say Bendpak. Just because of what I've read on here and other places. I will be placing an order for one soon.
If I was in your shoes I'd probably get the MaxJax DMJ-6. It goes to 6k which is still a lot for your needs, but it will save you space and a little bit of money.

Im not familiar with the dannmar. The shop i work at now has a couple bendpak xpr10a's
They work pretty well. Had a motor/pump issue with one last month. We got the lifts in august. Not sure what happened, if the motor went out or pump seized, but the capacitors in the control box fried and the motor made some bad noise. Bendpak sent out a whole new motor/pump assembly pretty quickly.

I really liked the forward lift brand at the old shop i worked at. maybe i was just used to them but if it was me id buy a forward lift over the bendpak. Not that the bendpak is bad. Just personal preference.

Check the arm hieght on the xp10a. You will find it to high for sports cars. I have problems getting low cars on to my Bendpak xp10. They fit better on my Mohawk A7 and my Ben Pearson 9k lift. If you are going to use the lift for heavier vehicles you can drive the lower vehicles onto pieces of 2x lumber to gain clearance for the lift arms.

Hey, thanks! I didn't think of how high the arms would be for clearance.

Hey MRBalll,

I just checked it out and it only lift to 45". I know my back will not like that crouching around under a car.

Yeah. Didn't know if you wanted to sit on a stool and roll around under the car working on it.
In that case the full two post would be good for you.

MaxJax are pretty much worthless for any real repair. No one wants to kneel or sit to work on a car.

Depending on what type of restoration you're doing, you may look into a scissor lift. Otherwise check for pad height on a 2 post - that is my biggest gripe with many 2 posts.
