One 4 foot section of my foundation stem wall had to be 8" thick due to engineering requirements. The rest is 6". Today I realized that creates a conflict for the garage door in that bay. One side is 6" thick and one side is 8" thick. The outside of the building is flush across all 3 door openings. The 2" additional thickness was added to the inside of the 8" wall. Have any of you dealt with that before? I was thinking about adding blocking to the 6" side so it matches the thickness of the 8" side. That would create the same conflict for the door opening next to it though. Should I block all 3 door openings to make them 8" thick? There must be a better solution.
