It's not mine and I don't know the seller so I'm posting it here. This would be a great set up, if one had the room and the money.

each section only holds a few items of each size. It might be ok if you re-labeled the bins but overall, it seems unsatisfactory if you have collection of nuts and bolts like I have

If they are anything like the hillman fasteners from Home Depot assume that at least 5% of the hardware will be defective and useless.

Used to find lots of unthreaded stuff, washers with no hole, bolts without the hex formed on the head, etc....

That is pricey! 20 cabinets with misc stuff for $6000 seems way to high. I would rather spend that kind of money on used lista or vidmar cabinets!

I actually got some of these cabinets from a Radio Shack that was closing. They are the same cabinets but labelled differently. I use mine for smaller tools, etc.

I guess this is where opinions split. That thing could hold a few grand in hardware. I'm sure it'd be great in a very large operation, but I'd rather have hit the end of my life knowing I spent that few grand on something a little more fun.

I wasn't saying buying it would be boring, I just think you could get ten vidmar cabinets for $6k and you would have way more storage space that would also last a lifetime for even an industrial environment. The hardware is only worth the money if you were a business that could sell it. I am sure it is all oddball stuff that you could use, but wouldn't really ever need to use. It would be a quick way to end up with an instant stockroom.

so what brand is the cabinets? Are they like the lista or equipto cabinets? 6000.00 for 20 cabinets is only 300.00 per cabinets with the contents. I have seen people here on gj spend that on empty cabinets...Rich

I'm completely in agreement. I have neither the space nor money to store much hardware. I have a few small bolt bins (think 4'x4' total) with a mixture of common hardware, but the cabinets were cheap and my efforts to keep them "stocked" consists of tossing spare hardware in them. Usually spare hardware means I wasnt sure which length of bolt most appropriate, so I bought 3-4 lengths to be sure.

Personally, Id rather have Lista/Vidmar style cabinets. The Lowes cabinets Im familiar with are quite a bit lighter duty.

I'd pay 150 a section. Half those fastners are junk and will never be used......plus most of those are 10-25 cents a piece.....for probably 2k you could clean out lowes home they have just like that

I say if it it really does have $17k worth of retail buy it and take a handful of bolts to return at Lowes and get you purchases for free. I sure could do a lot with $17K at Lowes.

Now that is thinking with your head. If they closed them out, all the barcodes could be gone, then you would be SOL without a receipt.

A dishonest act, whoever gets them did not buy them there.

If you run a small business and have to constantly send someone out to get specialty hardware, or go out yourself, the cost savings of having something like that could pay for itself quickly. 60 hours of labor at $100 an hour would equal the $6000. 120 hours of labor at $50 an hour would also equal the $6000. If you figure the time savings it's probably worth it, especially if you have to keep someone around, even just part time, to go pick up stuff like that. It would also cut down time waiting for some stupid screw or other fastener you might need. I'm betting that whole set up costs Lowes at least that much or more. Most small local hardware have a similar set up, but usually not as well made. For the right person probably well worth it. Probably wouldn't hurt to try bargaining though.

Richard Cranium....when the store closed I bought two of the racks. I think each had 7 drawers and they stacked. So, I have a total of 14 drawers. I think I paid $60 each.

There were far more dividers than I'd ever need as it was holding electronic bits...but when I bought them they had already been emptied.

In mine I have stuff like the small mini pliers, cut off wheel, calipers, tire gauges, chisels, punches, allen keys...all kinds of stuff that didn't fit well in the bigger toolbox.

Would probably make good tool boxes with the dividers removed. I have used them many a times at they store and they seem solid. Not sure if I would pay ~$300 each for them though. Then again it would save quite a few trips to the store, just walk out in the garage and pick out the proper fastener. You could even run a small hardware store for a while.

I love how they state in the ad. "The total retail of all the hardware in the bins based off retail prices two years ago totals to over $17,500. That cost is now much higher due to inflation."

Just think you are saving the cost of inflation. Ha ha :bounce:

I would LOVE to have the complete drawer selection from my local Lowes, except that they are almost always missing the one size of the one item I need from them.
I'd still like to have that wall-o-drawers to go to when I need something.

Imagine the possibilities, but the reality, too much of what you wouldn't use and not enough of what you need. Truth be told, 90% of us would own that if money wasn't an object.

who makes $100/hour!?.. shops charge $100/hour but that doesn't mean the kid running out to pickup parts makes that..

The kid isn't making a $100/hr but when he's out on a parts run, he's not making production so the shop is losing that in profit. (minus overhead)

IMHO I would never get $6,000.00 of value out of that hardware and I would hate to waste the floor space. I go to a local industrial hardware store when I need nuts, bolts screws and washers. I always buy a box and now after doing it that way for a few years I rarely need to go to the hardware store.

Yup. Store I worked at had Crown Bolt too. That garbage was even worse.

I buy my hardware at a local ACE. Its Hillman but I rarely if ever see defective hardware in the bins there and they have a much better selection.
