I spent a lot of time on this forum getting ideas for the design of my new garage. In the end, I went with 4 stalls, 2 cars deep, heated floors under Italian Tile, 14 6 bulb T5s, 16ft ceilings, outdoor cooking area, fireplace and lots of other little items. This link shows the entire build process with lots of photos. I'll post a few teaser pics.

Thanks for everyone who posted, I looked at tons of pics, listened to all the good and bad ideas and they all helped me make the right decision or avoid a bad one. Thanks again.

The offroad buggy is an Iguana built in Norfolk, NE. Here is the link. http://iguanatrax.com/

The truck is a 1988 toyota frame, running gear and motor. The body is a custom tubular frame. Motor has been upgraded a bit and I am having ARB lockers installed when the parts come in. It is a riot to drive because it gets alot of looks. I'll post some more pics later.

Ricky Bobby has a bad *** 502 BB and is a hoot to drive around as well. Thanks for the comments, I'll send a few more pics up. The link is long with lots of photos as well.

I agree, more pics. Any layout drawings/blueprints??

I have them but I'm a simple square/rectangle designer. The building is 50x60. The car floor is 50x50 which gives me lots of room for 4 cars wide by 2 deep with nice big walkways for viewing, opening car doors and for lifts so I can fit in 16 cars without feeling cramped.

There is a 10 ft wide by 50ft long area that is used for storage on the car level and the upper level is a view area/kitchen/bar. I also have more storage and a bathroom on this level. Since the ceilings are 16ft, this gives us a nice 8ft ceiling up top and puts your eyes just above or at roof level of a car on a lift. If you exit out the door on the upper level, it opens up to the patio, cooking area, fireplace and pool.

The radiant floor is the best and keeps the place at 70 degrees through the winter without any issue. The walls and ceiling are spray in foam so the place is as tight as it can be with 4 garage doors.

Viperguy, All I can say is WOW!!!!

I'm about to build a 30' x 70' attached garage this year and was really thinking about using spray foam, too. What made you decide on using spray foam and did you use open or close cell foam? I looked through all your photos and didn't see any pics of the spray foam installation. Would you happen to have any? Thanks.

Again...WOW!!!!

Boy you got me on the open/close cell foam. This is not the kind that you have to saw to the dimension of the studs. My neighbor was the one that demanded that I used it and do radiant floor heat. Those two items are a must. Cut some other items if you have to but get these two items!!

It technically is a Reese Bobby car but we all call it the Ricky Bobby car.

That is one of the nicest shops I have ever seen, congrats. I can tell you had it thought out from the start. One mistake I had made with mine, other then it not being big enough,(are they ever), was that the celing only being 10' high. It was ok till I purchased a 4 post lift. Other than that I can't complain. It wasn't that long ago I can remember working outside in all elements.

There isn't a real story but here is how Ricky Bobby came about.

Watching the movie (which I love!), I thought back to when I was a kid and I really wanted a Dukes of Hazard car, every kid did. I did a little research and found that the 2 cars in the movie had been purchased by a gentleman and restored one of the two. I also found that the paint scheme was based on the cars of the famous racer Smokey Yunick. http://www.smokeyyunick.com/ Someone had really done some research and thought behind designing Reese Bobby's car in the movie.

The more I watched the movie, the more I liked the car. I found an original imperial blue chevelle SS 396 that needed a little body work and a paint job about 2 hours away. I drove there and purchased the car. I brought it home and 2 friends and my wife wouldn't let me paint the car as Ricky Bobby. Soooo I started looking for another chevelle. I found one on Ebay and threw out of low number. I bought the car and brought it to a local professional builder. http://clayphillipsracecars.com/index.html By the way, the builder thought I was CRAZY to build Ricky Bobby.

I knew the car was rough but I thought we could paint it and be done. It had a low budget 350 and new tires. Weeeeelll, once we sand blasted and found all of the bondo and nastiness that had been covered up, it was time to regroup. All new front fenders, hood, floor, rear quarters and a ton of metal work. Clay Phillips builds the best performance cars so he kind of call my man card so we started to makes some upgrades. I ordered a 502 BB pumping out over 500 hp. Of course then we needed a new trans, new rear end, and suspension. That is where the TCI streetfighter, moser rear end and hotchkis suspension, QA1 adjustable coil overs and Aerospace billet 4 wheel disc brakes came in. New interior and all new chrome was put on the car. A complete and total restoration. IF I ever want to have a absolutely perfect 69 chevelle, all we have to do is color sand it and paint it a different color and put on different wheels/tires. It might be worth more as it sits right now.

OH I FORGOT!!!!!!!!! I would LOVE to have the cast of Talladega nights sign the car! I have had Jamie McMurray sign the car. I might campaign the car to Talladega and raise money for the local autism center. If anybody has any contacts I would appreciate any help.

Fantstic! I love the thought and work that went into your garage. The only thing that will make me envious, is if the young lady came with the Chevelle.
