I have a few of these and I can't remember who makes them or where I bought them from but I need to buy more. They are 4" x 4" x 6" solid blocks made of a very hard rubber or plastic. I have searched the internet and I can't find a damn thing, I might just not be typing in the right stuff to find what it need. So does anyone know of where I can get some more of these?

I guess composite is not the word I am looking for because all I come up with are pressed wooden blocks and I need plastic ir hard rubber. They are used to spread the load on an oil pan if you have to pick up a motor or you can use them with a high rise jack stand to support something. Basically just using it to evenly disperse the weight of a heavy object.

I keep pieces of 4x4 and 2x4 wood scraps in my roll cart for this. Sometimes I drive a seal or use one to back up another component for drilling. all kinds of uses.

As I get older (only 21 cough, cough) I tend to have memory problems but as I recall (or lack) I see those blocks for sale in some of my old woodworking magazines. Those special hard plastic blocks are used to make special gigs for woodworking set-ups.

Hope this helps you out.

I believe what you are looking for is referred to as UHMW (ultra high molecular weight) polyethlylene. It is hard as hell and almost unbreakable and would definitely work for what you want to use it for.

You could always use wooden blocks, at least until you find the plastic ones. Folks have been using them for years.

Wood is what I have used for many years but the safety company that comes by once a months has threatened to fine us if there is wood in the shop because it is not supposed to be used in situations like that. I think I found what I need at mcmaster carr.

I've cut up non-steel belted tires as well as truck/trailer mud flaps to make jack pads, equipment feet and such before. Great for protecting pinch welds on cars when up on lifts. The tread ribs come in handy.
