They are great ratchets! I have 3/8 and 1/4 at work. The 1/4 replaced my Matco one with 88 teeth because the Matco one always reverses on me but the HF one does not.

I put an older beat up 1/4 one in the vise and it took quite a bit of TQ to break it. The square broke at the ball but the ratchet part still worked fine.

The only negative to them is that they are a little short and are a real pain to keep clean.

When I hacked up one, the core was about the same size as a standard QR ratchet, maybe a little thinner in the handle, but not much.

That standard model Tekton looks a HELL of a lot like a Rotar made Kobalt or titan:

I can't disclose factories, but I can tell you it is not the same as the Kobalt ratchet. I too thought so at first, but the basic QR Ratchet everyone makes is so similar, but the shape of the handle isn't dead on. And look how big the QR Button is on the Rotar.

Maybe my eyes deceive me, but the handles look dead on to me. The qr button is the exact same to, except that the Kobalt button is black oxide while the Tekton is chrome.

The selector is different, the area the selector lies on is longer on the Kobalt, where the handle tapers back up for the handle is a sharper angle on the Kobalt.
The head shape is a little different, but its hard to show in a picture. They are very similar, but they don't share a forging or a factory.

So is Tekton copying Rotar or is it Rotar copying Tekton?

I like mine because I feel like I'm holding an oversized toothbrush when I use it...

The HF selector is the same as the tektron, it look to be a 2 pc tack well switch. While the HF is a much better selector switch being one solid piece of metal. I have a Kobalt in the car and a HF composite. And the HF switch broke 2 days after I got it. Had to get it replace at HF.

The Kolbalt is a way better made ratchet.
