I think KD makes these along with some other manufacturers.

Your thoughts?

Always seemed a little gimmicky to me, although I guess they might be useful in the right situation. I think I'd invest in a Knife Wrench before I'd pick up a pair of compound pliers:beer:

Probably has more mechanical advantage that way.

Might be useful for those dumb metal spring clamps on my rad hoses.

I bought a set at NAPA... the were originally over $80.00 for a two piece set, but I got them on clearance for under $25.00. They are nice... but they do basically the same thing as my cheapo set did. And, the KD/NAPA is hecho in Chine

Never ran into a situation where i would need a set, but you'll notice that you don't need to spread the handles as far to get the maximum jaw spread, oppose to a regular set.....

The benifit is you can insert them through a 5/8" opening and still open and close them. There are some places that standard Stork pliers won't open far enough to get a hold of what you are reaching for. I use mine on steering column electrical connectors and plucking things out of appliances.

These pliers have their purpose in that, you can open the jaws wider without moving the rest of the plier as much. Sometimes they will work when a regular pair won't. Would I pay $80 for a 2 pair set? no. $25? yes. :)
