I bought the DWS709 and kept it about a month (was looking for the 782, but none were available). Could not justify the 780 cost. I liked the 709 ok, but definitely needed adjustment out of the box & I really wanted the larger capacity nested crown & the depth stop for a future project. When Home Depot did the special 779, I returned the 709 & purchased the 779 (Taiwan). Seems just like the 780, without the laser & cheaper blade & I think the 780 is USA assembled, but don't quote me on that. Love the 779 (better saw), much better aligned out of box, and surprisingly the supplied blade had decent cut performance on the few pieces of trim I tried it on before switching blades.

Also, 709 does not have a top handle, only able to carry by base, 779 has all 3.

Got them at 1800ToolRepair.com

http://1800toolrepair.com/search/apachesolr_search

Part #'s
N03317 Work Light $21.75
N078832 Power Supply $23.65
624730-00 Handle Kit (only need top half) $13.21

total was $58.61

I immediately found the handle for less, but ordered all from same site for convenience and to save on shipping. Shipping to MO was ~ $8

There are a couple of good YouTube vids on the install, but it is pretty straightforward.

Have Fun!

I picked up the DWS780 on special at HD... I know there's talk of Type 1 vs. 20 (maybe that was the older saw). It's a type 1, seemed to be made this year: 2016 11-49

Slide it's nice a firm, but not rough... looks like a killer saw. The light is a really nice feature, we'll see on some cuts. Much quieter than my CMan 10" slider, but I don't think it's belt driven. It takes a sec or two to come to full speed.
